Why You Need to Let Go to Stand Out from the Crowd

This simple post took me way too long to write because I care what you think of me.

The mere thought of you reading these words made me want to sound perfect instead of just connecting with you for a second while you’re skimming this blog.

This is the same reason I wasn’t more successful as a stand-up comedian.

I let my fear of failure prevent me from finding my true voice.

It’s hard standing up in front of a room as ourselves. We’re scared to be judged so we cloak ourselves in a phony persona like it’s a suit of armor.

What I didn’t realize until years later is, it was the phony persona that was protecting me from feeling rejection when I bombed.

It was the easy way out.

I had to remind myself to take off the emotional armor to get this piece published. Regret only serves a purpose if you evolve.

Over the years I’ve learned a lot about comedy and sales the hard way.
